Growing in Unity Day 5

I want to thank everyone for your kind and encouraging comments this week.  I was unable to thank everyone individually due to an issue with blogger (I even asked tech support, my son LOL).   This week has definitely jump started my creativity and I hope you enjoyed it half as much as I did.   For my last GIU project, I made a card using the Unity “Kindness Matters Dragonfly” stamp set.   I used the  Make a Tag die set by Unity to, what else, make a tag!  Using black Archival Ink, I stamped the main image on the tag made of Astroparche cardstock.   I inked the tag using Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers and Rusty Hinge.   The tag is mounted on Burlap paper by DCWV, which is mounted on the card base of more Astroparche cardstock.  Using the postage stamp nesting die set by Unity, I die cut the next smallest postage stamp and cut part of it off so it would fit the card better.   It was also inked with Rusty Hinge and Peacock Feathers Distr...

Growing in Unity Day 4

For my fourth GIU day, I did a Christmas card featuring my favorite AngieGirl, Arianna Girl.  I colored Arianna with colored pencils by FaberCastell.  The black cardstock is by American Crafts and I used the Worn Music background stamp to make the background paper.  This is a stamp I’ve had since 2009 if not before then.  It is even mounted on wood.  A cling version of this stamp is available on the Unity website.   I cut out Arianna Girl and put part of a doily behind her.  Arianna Girl is mounted on thin foam tape, which I purchase on Amazon (someone wanted to know where to get thin foam tape— it’s by 3M).  I used black Archival Ink to stamp my AngieGirl, the Worn Music background and the sentiment.   The sentiment is distressed with Black Soot Distress Ink.  I hope you love Arianna Girl as much as I do!   Don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win one of two $20 Unity store credits.

Growing in Unity Day 3

For Day 3 of GIU I made a Christmas card using the “Colossal Snowflake” stamp and die set.   The background paper is Graphic 45 and in my mind it looks like falling snow.   I used Astroparche cardstock again for the card base and die cut elements to go with the vintage vibe of the G45 paper.  The ink I used for the snowflake and the word peace was cobalt Archival Ink.  The word peace is from the “Heart of Christmas” stamp and die bundle.  The banner is from the Scallops and Banners nesting die set by Unity.  I used Chipped Sapphire distress ink to ink the banner.  The blues all give this card a monochromatic effect.  Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win one of the two $20 store credits at the end of this week.

Growing In Unity Day 2

Thank you for visiting for Day 2 of my G.I.U. week.   Thank you for all of the sweet comments yesterday.   I’m having problems being able to  reply to individual comments, but am working on that.   Today I used a stamp from the Wit and Wisdom collection, “Kindness Matters”. This stamp makes it easy to create a fun thank you note.    The patterned paper is by Carta Bella and the white cardstock is by Neenah.    I used Cobalt Archival Ink to stamp the image and the ribbon is SnugHug seam binding.   I used thin foam tape to attach the stamped image. This is another card I made using the same sketch.   The stamp set is “Candles and Cake”, another of the fabulous Wit and Wisdom collection.   The paper is by American Crafts, the colored cardstock is also American Crafts  and the white cardstock is by Neenah.   I used black Archival Ink to stamp the image and more thin foam tape to pop up the image.   The rib...

GROWING IN UNITY DAY 1

My photograph isn’t the best.  I will work on improving the quality.   Today I wanted to share a card I made using the beautiful “World At Christmas” stamp set by Unity Stamp Company.   I used the angel tag from that set with Sepia Archival Ink on Astroparche cardstock.  I cut the tag out and squared off the top so it would fit on my card.  I used Vintage Photo distress ink to distress around the edges of the tag.  The plaid paper is by Graphic 45 and the black card stock is by American Crafts.   The card base is also Astroparche.   I love the vintage look of Astroparche so you will see me using it again.  The ribbon is SnugHug seam binding.  The word joy is from the same stamp set and I used black Archival Ink and a circle punch for each letter.   The tag is adhered by foam tape as is the word JOY.  I use thin foam tape, but it still gives some dimension.  Be sure to leave a comment below for a chance to win one of two $2...

Welcome to my Blog

My name is Marilyn Nimmo and we pronounce the last name “Nemo”.  We had a lot of fun when the movie, “Finding Nemo” came out.  I’ve created this blog to showcase my scrapbook and card creations.  I’ve been a paper crafter for approximately 20 years and had the privilege of working at a scrapbook store for several of those years.  I’m just getting back into paper crafting after a 5 year hiatus.  During those five years I still created Christmas cards to send to our friends and family.  I hope you enjoy seeing my creations as I find my way back to paper crafting.
